Get ready to put your problem-solving skills and teamwork to the test at the IDWeek escape room — a fun, interactive experience where small groups work together to uncover clues, crack puzzles and complete a themed challenge within a set time frame. Inspired by classic escape room games, this activity blends immersive storytelling, collaboration and infectious diseases-focused content for an engaging and memorable conference experience.
After its overwhelming success at previous IDWeek meetings, the escape room is returning for IDWeek 2026 in Washington, D.C. — stay tuned for more details and opportunities to sign up as the meeting approaches.
IDWeek 2023
“Out-BREAK!: An IDWeek 2023 Escape Room to Break Out of the Educational Mold” describes the design, development and implementation of the educational, ID-themed escape room activity at IDWeek 2023. An anonymous survey was conducted to collect demographic data, assess participant satisfaction with the escape room puzzles and gauge participant interest in game-based learning.
